There are several different suggestions in lipid control between the 2016 European Society of Cardiology (ESC)/European Atherosclerosis Society (EAS) lipid guideline and 2013 American College of Cardiology (ACC)/American Heart Association (AHA) lipid guideline. The most important one is about low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) target in patients with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). ACC/AHA guidelines abandon the LDL-C target and suggest high intensity statin for all ASCVD; while ESC/EAS guideline still use < 70 mg/dL as the LDL-C target. This lecture will focus on the differences between the 2 major lipid guidelines. After reviewing the 2 guidelines, the lipid suggestions in Taiwan will be presented.
