Hyperlipidemia was usually defined as elevated cholesterol in the blood, which may result in fatal diasters like atherosclerosis, acute coronary syndrome, myocardial infarction and even cerebral ischemic infarction. Usually, hyperlipidemia was correlated with genetic presentation, high fat diet or probably insufficient exercise. We usually suppose that the diet of hyperlipidemia was composed of animal fats with high saturated fatty acids and cholesterol. Especially, dietiticians mentioned that one egg (the egg yolk) contains approximately 270 mg of cholesterol, containing high levels of saturated fatty acids, which can easily increase the levels of blood cholesterol.? If we replaced such animal fat with plant sterol, we might improve the serum cholesterol and other lipid levels, and even body weight reduction for controlling the trend of obesity. However, whether diet control will really improve hyperlipidemia or even decrease cardiovascular or cerebral ischemic diseases was still further discussed. Such debates could be expected with certain contradictory results between dietetic experts and physician experts. This time, we will reviewed the recent surveys and outcome studies and try to search for the consensus in different expertise entities.
