Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP) remain one of the most significant and unsolved problems in obstetrics. HDP is among the leading cause of maternal and fetal mortality worldwide. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) report, 16 percent of maternal deaths were attributed to hypertensive disorders. Importantly, more than half of these hypertension-related deaths were actually preventable.
