In the past decades, we have witnessed a huge progress in the development of medical treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Currently in Taiwan, we have 7 classes of oral anti-diabetic agents and one classe of non-insulin injectables acting on various dimensions of the pathophysiology of T2DM. In this lecture, brief review of their pros and cons of each agent and recent discovery of their benefits on the prevention of macro- and microvascular complications will be presented.
