¡@¡@In addition to timely rapid reperfusion therapy, medical treatment to control risk factors and improve prognosis play important roles for acute myocardial infarction (AMI). All AMI should stop smoking. Hypertension, diabetes mellitus and hypercholesterolemia should be controlled according to current guidelines in Taiwan. New drugs have been developed for diabetes and hypercholesterolemia that can further reduce the risk for AMI. Other medical therapies that can improve the prognosis of AMI include dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT), angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor/angiotensin receptor blocker, beta-blocker, and lipid lowering therapy. All these medications should be used to improve the clinical outcomes of AMI.
